Because of the structure totally different between the Trident and the War Fork, the techniques of their wielding are also totally different.

In addition, Students of Vietnamese Traditional Martial Arts wanting to train with Trident must know to make the distinction between a Codified Sequence of « Trident » et the one of « War Pitchfork ».

in reality, the « War Pitchfork » was a weapon inspired by agrarian stools serving to take away the straw or the hay and used to fight on foot often against tigers and panthers ; it was also used in the rows of Footsoldiers under the name of « Xoa with Three Prongs - Tam-Cổ-Xoa (三 股 叉) » (for exemple, at the time of Ming and Qing Dynasties in China). Whereas the Trident was a weapon inspired by ancient weapons called « Đãng » and « Ba », serving to Cavalry for fighting on horseback under th ename of « Xoa with Three Heads - Tam-Đầu Xoa (三 頭 叉) ».
