The Halberd belongs to the category of weapons used in the begonedays on combat chariots and on horseback ; by consequent, his lenght and his weight according to the cases present very important differences.

Students of Traditional Martial Arts of Việt-Nam will have to distinguish the morphological structure from these two categories of Halberd that are the Spear-Halberd « Kích-Giáo - 戟 槊» and the Sabre-Halberd « Kích-Đao - 戟 刀 ».

The foundamental Codified Sequence of Spear-Halberd wielding in the Bình-Định SA-LONG-CƯƠNG School System is the Codified Sequence « Phương-Thiên Họa-Kích » (方 偏 禍 戟) ; that's a Codified Sequence concerning the wielding of the « Long Halberd » Trường-Kích (長 戟) belonging to the categorie of Spear-Hallberd « Kích-Giáo » (戟 槊), whom techniques of attack and defence chained techniques are codified by a Poem comprising 36 lines of Verse (144 characters).

Martial Student wanting to learn the Halberd wielding will has to own the one which is made of steel, forged according to historic model and with a logic weight. For the person who trains for with an aluminium Halberd, too light, it will be diificult for him to assimilate the depth of the wielding of this weapon from ancient times.
